Five mile mountain bike trail, parks, and walking paths

Preserved Open Spaces

Large green spaces are great for kite flying

Sunfield was named after the gentle rolling hills in South Austin, which glisten with a soft “sun” glow. This piece of Texas beauty can be enjoyed from the many preserved open spaces, miles of hike and bike trails, parks, sparkling stocked lakes, and native wildflower garden.

A treat for any bike enthusiast is the unimproved 5 mile mountain bike trails through the South Austin hill country, complete with decomposed granite.

Each neighborhood within Sunfield is completed with a small park, most containing a play structure, where neighbors stop for some fun on a lazy Sunday afternoon or out walking the dog.

The native wildflower garden is located by the southwest entrance, which becomes a favorite annual photo stop for Sunfield residents when the flowers are in full bloom. Wildflowers are also planted along the miles of wide walking paths and paved trails.

In keeping with long-time Austin “green building” practices, Sunfield parks and open spaces use xeriscaping to reduce water usage and encourage indigenous plants, resulting in a sustainable and beautiful landscape.
