Downtown Buda

A small town with slow southern charm

A town with history

Historic Main Street Buda is alive with tradition, shopping and good eats

Founded in 1881 as a stop on the International and Great Northern Railroad, Buda sits just outside the hustle and bustle of downtown Austin. It’s a small town with that slow southern charm that makes you never want to leave.

The historic Main Street area is the perfect place for a Sunday stroll- checking new stock at the vintage store and an ice scream sundae at The Buda Drug Store. Buda is also rooted in many yearly traditions including the world famous Dachshund Weiner Dog Races, Holiday Trail of Lights in Stagecoach Park, BudaFest parade and festival and so much more.

Modern development is also vast in Buda with many big box stores, chain retailers, grocery stores and Cabela's- World's Foremost Outfitter. Buda is also home to many outdoor activities such as the 52-acre Sportsplex featuring an impressive trail system, fishing pond, large playground, pavilion, baseball/softball fields, and picnic tables.
